Can Dr. Martha see me if I don’t live in Hawaii or Arizona? Yes! After establishing care while you’re physically in Hawaii or Arizona, I can continue to see you via telemedicine no matter where you are for up to one year.
Do you offer free consultations? Due to the time-intensive nature of my work and the highly personalized care I provide, I do not offer free consultations. If you’re still unsure after reading through the website, I encourage you to schedule your first appointment. You’ll get an in-depth evaluation, and from there, you can decide how to move forward—without being tied to long-term commitments. This way, you can make an informed decision about whether my approach is right for you after experiencing it firsthand.
Do you take insurance? No, I don’t take insurance. By operating outside the insurance system, I can provide personalized care without limitations or red tape. While this means you pay upfront, I can provide a detailed receipt that you can submit for possible reimbursement.
What forms of payment are accepted? I accept all major credit cards, debit cards, and HSA/FSA cards.
How much does each appointment cost? I offer straightforward pricing, no surprises. The first two appointments are each $375 and booked for 90 minutes. Follow up appointments are $225 and booked for 60 minutes.
How often do I need follow up appointments? This depends on your unique needs, but most patients start with monthly visits and transition to quarterly visits once they’re on track.
How do I cancel an appointment? To cancel an appointment with Dr. Martha, it's best to text us or email through Elation if it's more than 7 days before your appointment. Otherwise, you can cancel electronically via text when you receive the first appointment reminder 7 days in advance.
What is a Naturopathic Doctor? Naturopathic Doctors (NDs) are licensed healthcare professionals who combine the wisdom of nature with the rigors of modern science. Our approach is rooted in whole-person care and the integration of natural treatments with conventional medical practices when appropriate.
If Dr. Martha prescribes weight loss medication for me, or any other meds, will they be covered by my insurance? If the medication is on your insurance formulary, like most blood pressure or cholesterol medications, it should be covered. Weight loss medications, however, are often excluded from most people’s formularies no matter who prescribes them. When weight loss meds aren’t covered, many offices sell compounded options with steep retail markups to profit off their patients. I don’t believe in that—in fact, I think it’s unethical for physicians to profit from any test or treatment they recommend. That’s why I work with reputable pharmacies to provide compounded medications at cost, so you can trust you’re always getting the best care at the best price.
If Dr. Martha orders lab tests for me will they be covered by my insurance? If you use an in-network lab, most insurance plans will cover the tests. I also work with two private labs offering deeply discounted rates for out-of-pocket payment. Unlike most offices, I don’t add retail markups to lab costs—I simply pass the savings on to you by offering tests at cost.
What do I need to have on-hand for telemedicine appointments? A smart scale, a soft measuring tape, and a blood pressure cuff are great tools to help track your progress. A stable internet connection doesn’t hurt either!
Can Dr. Martha be my primary care doctor? No, while I’m a trained primary care physician (PCP), I operate outside the insurance system, so it’s best for you to keep a primary care doctor within your network. With your permission, I’m happy to coordinate with your PCP and any specialists you’re working with to ensure your care is seamless and fully optimized.
